What engines are available for the 2018 Kia Sportage?
The Sportage has two great engine options available for 2018. The lineup starts off strong with a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine, which comes standard on the LX and EX trims. If you want a little more oomph, then you should opt for the turbo engine that comes standard in the aptly-named SX Turbo. It’s a 2.0-liter turbo 4-cylinder, with some impressive specs.
When it comes to performance, we will get to that turbo powerplant in a minute, but first the 2.4-liter. The naturally aspirated 2.4-liter engine that comes standard on the LX and EX gives you 181 horsepower and an impressive 175 pound-feet of torque. The 2.0-liter turbo engine gives you even better performance with 240 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque.

What Sportage trims have AWD available?
The wonderful thing about the Sportage is that both engines can be equipped with AWD. All trims come with front-wheel drive standard, but all trims from the LX and the EX up to the SX Turbo, also have an all-wheel-drive option available without changing the engine.

How efficient is the 2018 Sportage?
Efficiency is important to most, especially when it comes to SUVs and crossovers. There are quite a few numbers to consider. The 2.4-liter LX and EX get different FWD efficiency numbers with 23-city mpg and 30-highway mpg for the former and 22-city mpg and 29-highway mpg for the latter. When equipped with an AWD configuration, they both get 21-city mpg and 25-highway mpg.
The SX Turbo takes advantage of that powerful engine, but it also still manages to provide outstanding efficiency numbers with 21-mpg in the city and 26-mpg on the highway with the FWD configuration. If you upgrade to the AWD configuration, then you still get 20-city mpg and 23-highway mpg.
