But the new Sorento PHEV goes beyond offering exceptional fuel economy and also brings an incredible amount of power. With its plug-in hybrid turbocharged powertrain, the 2025 Sorento PHEV has a Kia-estimated all-electric range of 32 miles. The 2024 Sorento PHEV got up to 35 mpg in the city, 33 mpg on the highway, and 79 MPGe.[1] We expect the new Kia Sorento plug-in hybrid to reach that and maybe more! And when you’re behind the wheel, you’ll get to feel up to 261 horsepower, too. 

Capability

You don’t have to upgrade to a higher trim to get incredible capability in the Kia Sorento PHEV. All-wheel drive is standard on this plug-in hybrid Kia SUV, letting you tackle all kinds of road conditions and even go off-road adventuring. The 2024 Sorento PHEV was available in just a single trim and we expect the same for 2025. That means you’ll likely get convenient capability features like low profile roof rails, a 6.85-inch ground clearance, and up to 258 lb-ft of torque.

Technology

Across the 2025 Kia Sorento lineup, you can look forward to some exciting technology updates. Kia has stated that there will be an available panoramic curved display with Kia’s next-generation Connected Car Navigation Cockpit system. This innovative system has a faster processing time, over-the-air updates, and comes with frequently used Quick Controls so you can easily find your top infotainment options. 

Additional tech upgrades for the 2025 Sorento family include USB-C ports located throughout the cabin for powering up devices, wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™, and Digital Key 2.0. With the Digital Key 2.0, you can use a compatible Apple or Samsung smart device (or an NFC-enable smart card) as a virtual key to lock, unlock, and drive the Sorento. 

The technology in the 2025 Kia Sorento family isn’t just reserved for entertainment. The SUV also comes with a roster of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems. Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist has been updated to detect pedestrians, cyclists, and oncoming vehicles when in an intersection. Another smart safety feature is Smart Cruise Control-Machine Learning, which adapts to and matches your driving habits as you use the system.


Design

The 2025 Sorento PHEV embodies the Kia “Opposites United” design philosophy combined with the “Bold for Nature” concept. Taking notes from the all-new EV9 playbook as well as the award-winning Kia Telluride, this plug-in hybrid SUV is set to have noticeable bold features like a large rectangular grille with stacked LED projector headlamps. You’ll also find Star Map lighting elements that give the vehicle futuristic design.

As you move to the interior of the Sorento plug-in hybrid, you’ll see modern design features from front to back. In the dashboard area are streamlined, slim air vents that further accentuate the openness of the cabin.

For outdoor enthusiasts, the 2025 Sorento family of vehicles offer trims like X-Line and X-Pro. These adventure-ready SUVs offer exclusive features like a center-locking differential, a bridge-type roof rack, 17-inch wheels, BF Goodrich all-terrain tires, and more. Beyond helpful amenities, these capable Sorento models also let you tow up to 4,000 pounds.
